Texas 3-1 Losers to Giants
|
Don Labonte, who is tied for 7th in the NL in wins with 3, never let the Rangers get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his curveball, to pitch the Giants to a win, 3-1. Pat Henderson was credited with the save for San Francisco, his 9th of the season. No one expected much of this team, but the hot start by San Francisco might have some re-evaluating their pre-season predictions. This latest win lifts their record to 20-9.
The Rangers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Giants going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 30-year old left fielder Grabiel Jimenez came to the plate. Jimenez hit a 2-run double on a full count sinker from Texas hurler Angel Yepez. It was Jimenez's 4th double of the year.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Texas manager Ron Robinson.
