Padres Suffer One-Run Loss at Arizona
|
Jesús Rodríguez could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his San Diego Padres lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Arizona reliever Sean Thomas was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Jesús Rodríguez took the loss. Jorge Gonzáles collected save number 6.
The Diamondbacks got a big at-bat from left fielder Sergio Portillo. For the game, Portillo was 1-1 with a double and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 7th double of the season gave Arizona a 2-0 lead.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Arizona manager Jake Mauer. "It's usually not just one thing."
San Diego falls to 12-15.
