They came up empty when it mattered against Vermont Lake Monsters right-hander Stu Russell, who scattered 8 hits across 9 innings and held the Spinners scoreless. "We had 8 hits so I know he wasn't completely untouchable, but he was close," Lowell manager Tony Castillo said later. Russell chalked up 7 strikeouts and 2 walks in the 5-0 Lake Monsters win.
