Méndez Sizzles -- Smokes Crosscutters for 6 Hits Friday, July 18th , 2025 A jubilant António Méndez joined the postgame press conference at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Williamsport Crosscutters pitching staff he had just vanquished. "It may not have looked like it," said the Tri-City ValleyCats second baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different." That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 6-for-6 hitting performance, which led to the 25-1 ValleyCats win. "He made it look easy," said , manager of the Crosscutters. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously." António Méndez hit a two-run double in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, hit a GRAND SLAM off Walt Randall in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
