5-for-5 Day for Cordero
Saturday, July 26th , 2025
Fans at Ripken Stadium got to see not only a home-team victory, but also one of the most impressive feats of hitting of the season.
The Aberdeen Ironbirds outplayed the Mahoning Valley Scrappers en route to a 7-5 win, but the standout was catcher Juan Cordero. Cordero netted 5 hits in 5 at-bats and finished with a dynamite game line.
"Hey, we tried everything we could think of to get him out," Scrappers manager Esteban Gonzalez said in postgame comments. "We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the sink, too."
Juan Cordero singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and tripled in the 8th.
In this current campaign Cordero is hitting at a .341 clip with no home runs and 2 RBIs.
