Twins End Chávez Streak
Saturday, August 23rd , 2025
The Danville Firebirds lost to the Elizabethton Twins, 4-2, at American Legion Field, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Rubén Chávez's 27-game hitting streak. The right fielder went 0-for-4 on the day.
"We felt if we could slow down Chávez, we would win the game," Twins manager Angel Pagan explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down."
This season, Chávez has hit at a .415 clip with 13 RBIs, 4 home runs and 31 runs scored. He has played in 31 games.
