Torres Put in Cooler, Hitless Against New York
Monday, June 23rd , 2025
The New York Mets did something to Gleyber Torres no team had done for the last 21 games -- they stopped him, ending his consecutive-game hitting streak. Unfortunately, they couldn't do the same to the Firebirds, who came away with the 12-1 victory at Citi Field.
"Hey, I knew it wasn't going to last forever," the 28-year-old third baseman said of the demise of his streak. "It was a good ride while it lasted."
Thus far this year, Torres has hit .280 with 4 home runs and 24 RBIs.
