Sharpe Shuts Out Chicago Monday, August 4th , 2025 Goose eggs were the order of the day for the Chicago Cubs as starter Walt Sharpe shut them out, 5-0, at Wrigley Field. The Cincinnati pitcher struck out 5 and walked 3 while allowing 4 hits. "Sharpe was good but he wasn't flawless," Chicago manager Warren Schaeffer said. "We had a few opportunities to make something happen and we didn't do it. Not to take anything away from Cincinnati, but this is on us." This year, Sharpe has a 7-10 record and a 4.72 ERA.
