San Diego Out of Playoff Race Friday, September 19th , 2025 It wasn't meant to be for the San Diego Padres this year. Despite a tough battle, they were eliminated from playoff contention today. "It is a bad feeling," said Padres center fielder Tim McDaniel. "Once you get into the playoffs, anything can happen. But you've gotta get in there first, and we weren't able to do that." Before this season, the Padres had made the playoffs 2 times in a row. In the 57 years they have been a Major League Baseball franchise, they have made the playoffs 8 times.
