No Playoff Berth Coming for Chicago Saturday, September 20th , 2025 Fans in Chicago may been holding onto a glimmer of hope, but that has now been officially snuffed out -- the Cubs were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention today. "It's a tough day for everyone in the Chicago Cubs organization," owner Al Bonner told reporters. "We will just have to come back stronger." The Cubs have missed the playoffs 138 times in their 150 years as a Major League Baseball franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 4th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 2021. In the last 10 seasons, the Cubs have missed the playoffs 6 times. Chicago last won the World Series in 1908. |
