Razor-Sharp Turner Blanks Pittsburgh
Sunday, September 21st , 2025
It was not a good day at the plate for the Pittsburgh Pirates. They came up empty when it mattered against Oakland Athletics right-hander Jacob Turner, who scattered 2 hits across 5.1 innings and held the Pirates scoreless.
"We had 2 hits so I know he wasn't completely untouchable, but he was close," Pittsburgh manager Jose Mijares said later.
Turner chalked up 1 strikeout and 1 walk in the 2-0 Athletics win.
To date, Turner has a 9-9 mark in 23 starts with a 3.87 ERA. He has given up 143 hits in 139.2 innings, struck out 91 and issued 34 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .261 batting average against him.
