Miller on a Tear, Hits for Cycle
Thursday, April 30th , 2026
Pat Miller did everything he could for the Pittsburgh Pirates -- literally.

The 27-year-old center fielder hit a single, a double, a triple and a home run for the Pirates, going for the cycle and helping them get past the St. Louis Cardinals, 16-9, at PNC Park.

"Yeah, I was some kind of hitter in this game," Miller reflected later. "It was like all I had to do was close my eyes and swing the bat."

In a game headed for the record books, Miller banged out 4 hits in 6 at-bats and totaled 6 RBI and 1 run scored. Speaking with the press about the feat, he attributed it to "a lot of luck."

"A triple is so hard to hit," he said. "To just decide to get one in a game when you need it for a cycle, it's impossible. Usually something weird has to happen, the ball kicking past an outfielder or somebody falling down. There's a ton of luck in hitting for a cycle."

Pat Miller flied out in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, flied out in the 6th, hit an RBI triple in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Ken Nicholson in the 8th.

Thus far this year, Miller has hit .262 with 4 home runs and 18 RBIs.
