St. Louis Halts Andujar's Hitting Steak Thursday, April 30th , 2026 Late in the game, all eyes in PNC Park were on Miguel Andujar as he stepped into the batter box. His 20-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Andujar, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end. If there was a silver lining for Andujar, it was that his Pittsburgh Pirates won the game anyway, stopping the St. Louis Cardinals by the score of 16-9. "Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Andujar told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 20 straight games. It's something I will always remember." So far this year, Andujar is batting .371 with 2 home runs. |
