AL Player of the Week Goes to González of Detroit Monday, June 1st , 2026 Detroit fans have something to crow about today as Detroit right fielder Raúl González nabbed the American League Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days. "I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said González. He posted a .458 average (11-for-24) this past week with 3 home runs, 8 RBIs, and 5 runs scored. This year, González is hitting at a .312 pace with 12 home runs and 37 RBIs. He has played in 55 games and scored 32 times. |
