Camacho Raps Detroit for 5 Hits Thursday, July 2nd , 2026 Luis Camacho was on quite a roll as he knocked the ball all over Globe Life Park in Arlington, collecting 5 hits. His day of glory wasn't able to win the game, however. The Detroit Tigers got the 8-7 victory over the Texas Rangers. "I never realized that a few hits could cause so much commotion," the left fielder said in the clubhouse after the game, crowded by reporters. "Headlines and highlights are great, but it takes a lot of luster off it that we lost." After his first couple of hits, all eyes in the ballpark were on him each time Camacho stepped into the batter's box. Even some opposing fans were pulling for him, knowing they were watching a little slice of league history unfold. When asked what the secret of hitting so well is, he smiled and said "relax, concentrate, and hit the ball where they ain't." That's exactly what he did, as Camacho finished the game with 5 hits in 6 at-bats and a line in the record book. Luis Camacho doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, tripled in the 8th and singled in the 9th. So far this season, Camacho is batting .373 with no home runs, 33 RBIs and 59 runs scored. He has 123 hits in 330 at-bats, 26 walks and a .414 OBP. Camacho has played in 79 games.
