Cox Rocks White Sox for 3 HRs Sunday, August 2nd , 2026 It was a day for the record books for Tampa Bay Rays center fielder Eric Cox, who walloped three out of Tropicana Field against the White Sox. However, not even a three-homer game could prevent the White Sox from getting the 7-6 victory. "We threw some good pitches and they hit 'em, and we made some bad pitches and they hit 'em. That's a good strategy for losing ballgames," Tampa Bay skipper Joey Cora joked after the loss. Cox still had a few opportunities to celebrate along the way. He was 3-for-4 for the day, batting in 4 runs and scoring 3 times. "I never, ever thought I would hit three home runs," Cox said. "I hit three home runs once when I was 12 in Little League and I thought that was going to be the last time." Eric Cox hit a two-run home run off Ben Eckels in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Pete Keating in the 4th, walked in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Trevor Rosenthal in the 7th and struck out in the 9th. So far this season, Cox is batting .206 with 19 home runs, 48 RBIs and 50 runs scored. He has 71 hits in 345 at-bats, 31 walks and a .284 OBP. Cox has played in 101 games. |
