Castro Wins AL Player of the Week Monday, August 31st , 2026 Starlin Castro of the Houston Astros might have lost a step over the years, but the 36-year-old first baseman can still get it done. He beat out several other worthy American League hitters over this past week to claim the Player of the Week Award. Castro posted a .846 batting average with no home runs and 3 RBIs last week while scoring no runs. For the week he was 11 for 13.
