The Posey Posse Roundup Report

The Posey Posse Roundup Report (MLB) SSG San Francisco Giants 14-17 3rd in the NL West Division  The SSG Giants went 14-17 in the month of April (and March) as they closed out the month tied for 2nd place in the NL West with the San Diego Padres. The season started out with an injury to All Star 2B Toshikuni Kondo in the first game that caused him to miss the first 3 weeks of the season.  With their offensive catalyst shelved the Giants plucked SS/2B Jose Ramirez off the waiver wire to fill in. Ramirez has played well enough to take over the full time SS duties from Jack Hager once Kondo returned to play. 2016 1st overall pick Kevin Wilson has started the year off on fire batting a .326/.357/.513 line with 3 HR /18 RBI and 8 SB in 9 attempts. Wilson looks to be coming into his own in his third season in the show. CF Tyrone Taylor also looks to be building off a strong 2019 with 7 HR and 26 RBI although 3 errors in the field already leaves something to be desired.  The Giants pitching staff has had a rough go to start the season. Number 2 starter Jarrod Parker is on his second trip to the DL already with a shoulder injury and the rest of the staff have struggled for the most part. Veteran starter David Price who came over from the Detroit Tigers has been the best of the bunch with a 2.73 ERA while being snake-bitten with only 1 win. Out of the bullpen it has also been a struggle for the most part. LHP Steven Okert has been steady with a K/9 rate of 13.1 while Closer Kenley Jansen has notched 5 saves and a sported a minuscule 0.67 ERA.  The Giants made one big trade in the month of April shipping fan favorite 1B Ji-Man Choi to the Cincinnati Reds for a package of prospects. Coming back to the Giants are CF Dusty Lawrence, SP Cesar Rodriguez and SP Jack Braine. While some questioned making a move this early, rumors around the team indicated that the Giants and Choi were far apart on term and dollars when negotiating a long term extension. Long time Catcher Buster Posey will be transitioning to First Base as the Giants look to ease the wear and tear on his body.
