Joe Holmes, who is tied for 6th in the MID in quality starts with 12, imposed his will on the Cougars from the get-go. Relying mainly on his changeup, the right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 Quad Cities triumph. The Quad Cities win streak is now 3 games.

Ernie Williams had a big 2-run home run for the River Bandits in the bottom of the second inning. With Quad Cities leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from Steve Howell and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 8th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the River Bandits ahead, 3-0.
