Good production from first baseman Dave O'Neill helped the Lake County Captains topple the South Bend Cubs, 4-2. O'Neill went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Captains. Lake County reliever Mike Tyler picked up the win, upping his record to 10-0. Marcus Kerklaan took the loss. The Captains bumped their record to 67-57 with this win.

With two out in the bottom of the second, Ron Ramsey put Lake County in front, 3-2, with a run-scoring single. The Captains went on to win the ballgame.

Lake County manager Chris Dwyer called it "a darn good win."
