Snappers Win at Home, 5-3
|
The Beloit Snappers licked the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 5-3. Arturo Román deserved a big chunk of the credit. The shortstop went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 2 times for the Snappers. Eric Beach got the save, his 5th in 6 chances. By defeating Wisconsin, the first-place Snappers improved to 77-47.
Joe Britten had a big 2-run double for the Snappers in the bottom of the third inning. With Beloit leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a slider from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Ken Poff and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 26th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Snappers ahead, 4-0.
"I thought we competed really well," said Snappers manager Nelson Liriano. "I thought the energy was really good."
