Down Goes Beloit, 3-1, to Cedar Rapids
|
A good time was had by all at Veterans Memorial Stadium, where the Beloit Snappers and Cedar Rapids Kernels tangled.
Cedar Rapids Kernels starter Albert Colón was in the groove. He led his team to a win over the Beloit Snappers, 3-1. Colón got the win, improving to 10-11. He gave up 9 hits and walked 2 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Picking up the save was Jeff Young. He's now 1 for 1 in save chances.
In the top of the ninth, Luis López stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Snappers were trailing 3-1, but had the bases loaded. That's when Jeff Young made a terrific pitch and López grounded out. Gone was the dream of a Beloit comeback.
Cedar Rapids is now 57-69. Beloit is 65-61.
