Multi-HR Day for Nicholas as Lugnuts Overpower Dragons, 9-2
|
Spirited fans greeted the Dayton Dragons for their clash with the Lansing Lugnuts.
The Lansing Lugnuts downed the Dayton Dragons, 9-2. The hitting star was first baseman Mike Nicholas. Nicholas went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Lugnuts. Ken Jenkins picked up the win, lifting his record to 10-8 on the season. He struck out 7 and walked 1 in 8.2 innings, while yielding 2 runs.
Lansing used the hitting of Alan Jones to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Lugnuts on top, 9-0. For the game, Jones had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It was a good team win. Everybody threw something in," Jones told the Lansing Daily News.
Lansing now sits at 55-71, while Dayton falls to 52-74.
