Dragons Win with Late Rally

The Dayton Dragons topped the Lake County Captains, 5-4, with youngster Lou Jones playing a key role. Jones was 1 for 4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Dragons in the win. Rob Miller earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 7-10. Picking up the save was Juan Sánchez. He's now 23 for 30 in save chances.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Ed McCarthy? The 23-year old right fielder McCarthy stroked a run-scoring walk in the top of the tenth inning to put Dayton up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We earned that one," said McCarthy.
By defeating Lake County, the last-place Dragons improved to 53-74.
