Good production from designated hitter Rocky Chandler helped the Peoria Chiefs topple the Clinton LumberKings, 4-3. Chandler threw 8.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the Chiefs. The third-place Chiefs now have a win-loss record of 71-56.

The Chiefs were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 23-year old third baseman Luis Sánchez landed a big blow. He turned a 2-2 slider from Dave Davis into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Dozer Park denizens into a frenzy and sent the Chiefs home with a thrilling 4-3 win.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Peoria manager Phil Nevin.
