Timber Rattlers Get Past Cedar Rapids for 7-6 Win
|
The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers defeated the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 7-6, at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Wisconsin was led by 18-year old shortstop Dan Thompson, who was 3 for 5 with 3 singles. Wisconsin reliever Léo Briand picked up the win, raising his record to 7-8. Kurt Brown was tagged with the loss. Wisconsin is now 52-74. Cedar Rapids is 73-54.
Phil Winston drew 1 walk for Wisconsin. The 24-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring walk off Kurt Brown. It was his 53rd walk of the season.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Wisconsin manager Matt Walbeck.
