Bees Win, 9-6, in Extra Frames
|
The Burlington Bees topped the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 9-6, the lion's share of the credit going to shortstop Dan Miller. On the day, Miller went 4-5 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times for the Bees. Burlington now sits at 74-54, while Cedar Rapids falls to 58-70.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Juan Palmeiro came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Cedar Rapids pitcher Jeff Young, he hit a 0-2 slider for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Burlington on top, 8-6.
"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said Burlington manager Danny Valencia.
