The South Bend Cubs picked up a win at Fifth Third Field, knocking off the Dayton Dragons, 9-5. On the mound for South Bend was right-hander Marcus Kerklaan. He played a key role in the triumph. The setback makes Dayton 64-65.

Përparim Kochiu had a big run-scoring double for the Cubs in the top of the second inning. With South Bend leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from Juan Martínez and swatted a double to right. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cubs ahead, 2-0.

"We maximized our offense today," said South Bend skipper Taylor Davis. "That makes everyone's life easier."
