Behind a fine performance from Andy Cook, the Lansing Lugnuts knocked off the Lake County Captains, 5-2. Cook was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Lugnuts. Leo Adams, the winning pitcher, is now 2-3. He went 6.2 innings, allowing no runs on 7 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 3. With the win, Lansing raised its record to 66-64.
Cook had a game-changing double in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 fastball from Jeff García, he banged a run-scoring double to left, giving the Lugnuts a 1-0 lead. It was the 11th double of the year for Cook.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Cook. "You've got to get results."
