The Lake County Captains defeated the South Bend Cubs by the score of 12-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to right fielder Lou Weber. Weber went 2-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Captains on the day. The winner was Jesús Gómez, who threw 121 pitches over 8.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits. With the win, Lake County raised its record to 71-62.

Lake County used a clutch at-bat from Zak Vanstone to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Captains ahead, 8-3. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
