FCL Breaks Through for First Win in Round 1; Now Trails 2-1
|
Already down in the Round 1, the FCL Red Sox put on their best show, beating the FCL Mets by a final score of 4-3. Loren Holmes was special. He threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. FCL now trails FCL 2-1 in the best-of-7 affair.
The Red Sox were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 21-year old left fielder Bob Evans landed a big blow. He turned a full count fastball from Kurt Hawkins into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the JetBlue Park denizens into a frenzy and sent the Red Sox home with a thrilling 4-3 win.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Evans.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Friday, October 2nd , 2026.
