FCL's Watkins Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits

It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Cliff Watkins. Watkins went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off FCL pitchers. When the dust settled on the diamond at Champion Stadium, he had a 5-for-5 line and a day he will long remember. And the FCL Blue Jays had a win, 9-7, over the Hammers.
"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he joked in the postgame interview.
Cliff Watkins singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off José Pereira in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Wally Daniel in the 9th.
This season, Watkins is hitting .371 with 5 home runs.

Harris Selected FCL's Best Pitcher

Danny Harris was on top of the world in August, capping it off with the Florida Complex League Pitcher of the Month honors.
The FCL starter was superb in 5 starts with 5 wins and no losses, 41.2 innings pitched, 53 strikeouts and a fine 2.38 ERA.
In 7 starts this season, Harris has rung up a 6-1 record and a 2.72 ERA.

Bob Blair Selected August's Best Batter

It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 19 Bob Blair has a lot of baseball ahead of him.
But for now the young FCL Red Sox star can enjoy the numbers he put up in August, which have garnered him the nod as the Florida Complex League Batter of the Month.
His breakout month featured a .424 average with 5 home runs, 17 RBIs and 24 runs scored.
This year, Blair is hitting .394 with 56 hits, 7 home runs, 25 RBIs and has scored 36 runs.
