Nationals Hammered by Pérez, Drop Game 1 to Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates took the first game of the League Divisional Series in dramatic fashion, topping the Washington Nationals, 8-5, in an extra-inning walk-off win. Pirates catcher José Pérez was 1 for 2 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the tenth. With Pittsburgh trailing 5-4, Pérez jumped on a fastball from two-time All-Star Robbie McJannett and hit a grand slam home run to left. With one swing, the Pirates had a walk-off win.

"This place was jumping at the end," Pérez said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.
