Tigers Win with Late Rally
The West Virginia Black Bears could not turn a fine performance from first baseman Jorge Cabrera into a win. Instead, the Connecticut Tigers prevailed, 8-7, in 10 innings. Cabrera went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Connecticut reliever Filip Pauw picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Timoteo Florioli took the loss. Marlon Gibbs collected save number 1.

Connecticut used the timely hitting of Jon McDonald to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Tigers on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"This was a nice win for us," said McDonald. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."

The Tigers lead the Stedler Division by 9½ games.
