Marlins Win Extended Game 3 Duel with Astros Behind 2 HRs From CF Bishop
|
The Miami (GCL) Marlins went into extra innings against the Houston (GCL) Astros but ultimately moved to within one game of the Round 2. The Marlins downed the Astros at Ballpark of Belvedere by a score of 4-3. Miami (GCL) center fielder Steve Bishop had an impact on the outcome. He went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The win gives the Marlins a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Round 1.
Miami (GCL) used a timely hit from Alan Atkinson to get the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Marlins ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"I like our moxie," said Marlins manager Shane Greene.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Saturday, September 6th , 2025.
