Athletics Need Extra Frames to Get Past Cubs
The Oakland (AZL)-Chicago N (AZL) matchup turned into a slugfest.

The Oakland (AZL) Athletics managed to get by the Chicago N (AZL) Cubs, 14-13, at Cubs Park. Oakland (AZL) shortstop Pete Johnson set himself apart with his performance. Oakland (AZL) reliever Johnathan Lamere snagged the win, upping his record to 4-0. Sean Pace shouldered the loss.

Pat Patterson delivered a big hit for Oakland (AZL). The first baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Athletics ahead, 14-13. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

Johnson told reporters after the game: "All's well that ends well."

With the win, Oakland (AZL) pushed its record to 22-15.
