JetHawks Handle Lake Elsinore, Snag 5-3 Win
|
The Lancaster JetHawks topped the Lake Elsinore Storm, 5-3, in California League action at Lake Elsinore Diamond. The standout performance belonged to Lancaster pitcher and Leavenworth, Kansas, native Jeff Shelton. Albert Valdéz, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save. The win for the JetHawks raised their record to 69-65.
Randy Alexander was 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Lancaster. The 22-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a 2-run single off Geoff Erickson. It was his 65th hit of the season.
Shelton told a Lancaster Daily News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
