Fitzgerald Excels, But Lugnuts Win
The Lansing Lugnuts outlasted Dylan Fitzgerald and the Lake County Captains, 8-6. Fitzgerald was impressive in the loss. The Lake County catcher went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Lansing reliever Dan McLeod got the win, raising his record to 3-4. Ron Lyons was tagged with the loss. Eugene Howe converted his 22nd save in 30 tries.

Had Kevin Lewis not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Lewis hit a 2-run double. That made the score 8-6, in favor of the Lugnuts.

"We took home the win," said Lewis. "What's not to like?"

With the win, Lansing upped its record to 68-65.
