Vinnie Merritt pitched a gem to lead Burlington to victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 5-0. The victory puts Burlington at 48-85.

Ron Hammond went 2 for 5 with 2 singles for Burlington. The 21-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off José Sánchez. It was his 30th hit of the season.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Hammond. "And not try to do too much."
