Due in large part to shortstop Mickael Gentil, the Cedar Rapids Kernels sunk the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 12-1. Gentil was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Cedar Rapids pitcher Jesús Vargas earned the win, hiking his record to 10-5. Ken Alford suffered the loss. With the win, Cedar Rapids has a record of 75-59. Wisconsin falls to 57-77.
Early in the game, Gentil had a 2-run home run for Cedar Rapids. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Kernels on top, 2-0.
"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Wisconsin manager Matt Walbeck.
