Behind an impressive start by Gil Peterson, Kane County beat Burlington, 5-2. Peterson got the win, improving to 5-14. He gave up 7 hits and walked 1 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Ron Wells earned his 1st save in 1 tries.

Joe Mellon had a big 2-run double for the Cougars in the bottom of the second inning. With Kane County leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a slider from Ed Anderson and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cougars ahead, 3-0.

"Gil pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Kane County manager .

The Cougars improved their record to 53-82 with the win over Burlington.
