Lugnuts 5-2 Winners Over Dayton
|
Starting pitcher Steven Prigent fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Lansing Lugnuts stymie the Dayton Dragons, 5-2. Prigent, the winner, moves to 3-5. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. With this game in the books, Lansing is 60-77, Dayton 57-80.
The Dragons had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Lugnuts going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old center fielder Steve Collins came to the plate. Collins hit a 2-run double on a 1-0 changeup from Dayton hurler António Lara. It was Collins's 38th double of the year.
Said losing manager Manny Amador: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."
