Red Sox Handle Minnesota (GCL), Snag 8-6 Win
|
The Boston (GCL) Red Sox outlasted Juan Domínguez and the Minnesota (GCL) Twins, 8-6. Domínguez was impressive in the loss. The Minnesota (GCL) pitcher threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The winning pitcher was Nelson Cruz. His record now stands at 2-0. The right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits for the Red Sox. Tim Davis earned the save, his 2nd, for the Red Sox.
The Twins had been locked in a 6-6 tie with the Red Sox going into the bottom of the seventh inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old right fielder Ron Morrow came to the plate. Morrow hit a run-scoring double on a 2-2 fastball from Minnesota (GCL) hurler Joe Hale. It was Morrow's 2nd double of the year.
"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Morrow.
The loss drops Minnesota (GCL) to 7-2.
