Phillies Drop 6-2 Decision to Hammers
The FCL Hammers defeated the FCL Phillies, 6-2. Right Fielder Rubén Chávez deserved a large share of the credit. Chávez went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Hammers. Stan Taunton picked up the save for FCL, his 1st of the year. So far, the 2026 season has been disappointing for FCL, now 4-7.

Chávez had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 0-2 slider from Bengt Colding, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Hammers a 4-2 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Chávez.

"Whenever I help the team," said Chávez, "it sort of justifies my place on the roster."
