Big Day for Reese as Blue Jays Down Pirates, 9-6
The Toronto (GCL) Blue Jays saddled the Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates with a loss at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. The final score was 9-6. Ron Reese was 3 for 4, including 2 singles and 1 home run. The Toronto (GCL) first baseman scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Dan McLeod, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. Picking up his 3rd save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Eugene Howe.

Johnny Hurt went 1-3 for Toronto (GCL). The 20-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bill Sayers. It was his 14th RBI of the season.
