The FCL Marlins banked on Jon Merritt and he turned in a masterful performance. The right-hander kept the FCL hitters in check. The final score was 3-0, Marlins. Merritt got the win, improving to 1-2. He gave up 1 hit and walked 1 over 5 innings. He allowed no runs. Jim O'Connor got the save, the 5th for him this season.

The Marlins got a big at-bat from third baseman Erik Dunn. For the game, Dunn was 2-3 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 4th double of the season gave FCL a 1-0 lead.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Merritt told a FCL Observer reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
