Chris Green left his imprint on the 9-0 Pittsburgh (GCL) win against the Philadelphia (GCL) Phillies. Green, who is tied for 7th in the GCL in home runs with 6, went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. José Pomares picked up the save for Pittsburgh (GCL), his 1st of the year. Pittsburgh (GCL) has now won 3 straight, while the Phillies have lost 3 in a row.
Pittsburgh (GCL) shortstop Lou McCullough contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 20th hit of the season and put the Pirates ahead, 2-0.
