Blue Jays Take Home 4-3 Win Over Atlanta (GCL)
|
Toronto (GCL) picked up a win at Champion Stadium, bumping off the Atlanta (GCL) Firebirds, 4-3. Pitcher Netuno Gueifo was a major reason the Blue Jays emerged victorious. In 8 innings, Gueifo surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Eugene Howe nailed down the save.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Aurelio Molina? The 22-year old left fielder Molina stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put Toronto (GCL) up, 4-0. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We're in for a photo finish, I think," said Molina. "Time to play our best ball."
With the win, the Blue Jays hiked their record to 17-17.
