Akron Downed, 3-1, by Rock Cats
|
The New Britain Rock Cats, behind a great outing from Bob Walters defeated the Akron RubberDucks, 3-1, at New Britain Stadium. After losing, Akron is 12-9.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Mike Taylor came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Akron pitcher Juan D. Nunez, he hit a 2-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New Britain on top, 2-1.
"Bob giving us the start that he did was huge," said New Britain manager Gary Kendall.
