Gelderblom EL Selection for 2026 Most Valuable Player Award

At the age of 23, Elwiin Gelderblom of the Bowie Baysox could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2026 was good enough to win the first baseman the Eastern League Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .337 batting average this year, as well as a .419 on-base percentage. He played 102 games and racked up 134 hits, 30 doubles, 2 triples, 16 home runs, 69 RBIs and 49 runs scored.
He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 12. Raúl Lozano of the Akron RubberDucks finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Dave Anderson of the Binghamton Mets finished third with 1 first place vote.

EL Selects Top Manager, SeaWolves Ausmus Wins

The Erie SeaWolves had an outstanding season, much of it due to their astute and gifted skipper. For his managerial excellence, Brad Ausmus reaped the reward of being voted Eastern League Manager of the Year.
"A manager is only as good as the players he's managing," Ausmus told reporters. "If I didn't have the talent to work with, making all the right moves wouldn't have helped a bit."
Under Ausmus the SeaWolves finished first in the Southern Division with a record of 89-51.
